Filipina estudiante comparte experiencias en estudiar en China

Emilio O.Lopue is sharing his experiences on studying in China.

Emilio O.Lopue,Jr who won the second prize in the 7th Chinese Bridge Proficiency Competition for College Students back in 2008 returned to the Ateneo de Manila Universityto share his experiences on studying in China on Last September 5. The talk was held at the Ricardo Leong Center for Chinese Studies Conference Room.

Lopue, who graduated with a degree of Legal Management at the Ateneo, won the Philippine Preliminary Competition in April 2008 and went on to compete in the finals in Changhsa, Hunan, where he competed with other students from all over the world. After a month of intense competition, he was awarded the 2nd place prize, which includes a Master’s degree full scholarship grant with airfare, and the title “Ambassador of the Chinese Language”. He is currently taking up his masters in International Relationsat Renmin University in Beijing

At the invitation of Ms. Daisy See, director of Chinese Studies Program at the Ateneo de Manila University, Lopue spoke to some Chinese language students and majors about what to expect in studying in China. He spoke about the application process, applying for a scholarship, the many facets of student life, the adjustments that one has to make while studying in the country, the various interactions with people, classmates and teachers, and the being one of the handful of Filipinos in the university.

Guests from the Confucius Institute at the Ateneo de Manila University attened the talk, namely Ms. Liu Xiaofang, the Chinese director, and volunteer teachers Ms. Deng Yun and Ms. Zhou Shiyu.

Emilio O.Lopue is answering the questions made by the audiences.

At the end of the lecture, Mr.Emilio O.Lopue,Jr said he now has a very close relationship with China, and hisplan after graduation is to work in the Philippine Embassy, hoping that he can use his Chinese language skills and extensive knowledge of China tostrengthen cultural communication and promote mutual understanding between thetwo nations.
